Theory --

Since there will be little wastage of powder during weighing, mixing and dividing therefore calculate for one extra powder then required.
The quantity of Arsenic Powder prescribed is very very small (potent substance) andit is not possible to weigh such a small quantity on dispensing scale therefore 100mg (minimum amount) of Arsenic trioxide will have to be weighed on the dispensing balance. For dilutions lactose is used as diluent because it is white, sweet in taste, easily available, cheap and compatible with majority of the drugs.  

Procedure--

Weigh 100 mg of arsenic trioxide and mix it with 400 mg of lactose. total by means of titration

i.e, add about 100 mg of lactose to 100 mg og arsenic trioxide mix them throughly, then gradually add the remaing amount of lactose with intimate mixing after each addition.

This total 600 mg of titurate will contain 100 mg of arsenic trioxide weight out 100 mg of this triturate which conatin 20 mg of arsenic trioxide. To this add 900 mg of lactose is equal to 1 g total by means of trituration. Out of this triturate weight 100 mg for each powder which will containg 0.002g of arsenic trioxide. Wrap in powder paper as individual dose and label & dispense

Arsenic Trioxide is used as Bitter tonic.
